There aren’t many instances where the failure of products truly affects your life: one day it works, the next it doesn’t. More often than not, you simply go out and replace it. But for Pelican Healthcare, one of the major players in disposable medical products, failure to deliver excellence can have a deep emotional impact on its customers.
“Naturally, having a stoma can have a big impact on how you perceive your body image,” says Colin Kent, Operations Manager at Pelican Healthcare. “Pouches provide a critical function, allowing patients who have received major bowel surgery to maintain a certain quality of life.”
Crucially, such products must be easy to change and resistant to leaks. Colin is quick to point out the significant demands that are placed on the products as a result. His constant pursuit of quality led him to SureTECH’s door, tasking them with providing adhesive components for the pouches, particularly concerning the outlets taps that are connected to them. “Our products work in such a way that the patient will wear them for two or three days, draining the product daily through the outlet of the bag,” he explains. “I can’t emphasise how important quality standards are for patients – confidence in the product’s performance is absolutely critical.”
Colin now cites SureTECH as an integral part of Pelican Healthcare’s business. “They’ve always been extremely good at thinking differently, and are always ready to innovate in order to find the next best way of doing something.”
